Terms & Conditions
Reena Joy - Independent Celebrant - Last updated: February 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of celebrant services by Reena Joy ('the Celebrant', 'I', 'me') to you ('the Client', 'you'). By booking my services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Services Provided
1.1. I provide independent celebrant services for weddings, civil partnerships, commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, and celebrations of life (funerals and memorial services).
1.2. Services include an initial consultation, ceremony creation and writing, unlimited contact throughout the planning process, delivery of the ceremony on the agreed date, and a presentation copy of the ceremony script.
1.3. Please note that celebrant-led ceremonies are not legally binding marriages or civil partnerships in England and Wales. If you require a legal marriage, you must also arrange a separate legal ceremony at a register office or approved venue.
2. Booking and Confirmation
2.1. A booking is confirmed upon receipt of a signed booking form and payment of the booking fee.
3. Booking Fee, Payment, Cancellation and Rescheduling
3.1. A non-refundable booking fee of 50% of the total ceremony fee is required to secure your ceremony date. This booking fee confirms your agreement and allows work on your ceremony to begin.
3.2. The remaining 50% balance must be paid in full no later than 7 days before the ceremony date. If the balance is not received by this time, I reserve the right to cancel the booking and release the ceremony date.
3.3. If you cancel your ceremony, the booking fee is non-refundable as it covers the reservation of your date and preparation work.
3.4. If cancellation occurs within 7 days of the ceremony date, the full remaining balance will be payable.
3.5. If you need to reschedule your ceremony, I will do my best to accommodate this, subject to availability. If I am available, your booking fee will be transferred to the new date. If I am not available, the booking will be treated as a cancellation and the booking fee will remain non-refundable.
3.6. In the unlikely event that I am unable to conduct your ceremony due to illness or circumstances beyond my control, any payments made will be refunded in full.
4. Fees and Payment Methods
4.1. All fees are clearly stated in your quote and booking confirmation.
4.2. The fee includes travel within a 20-mile radius of Manchester. Travel beyond this may incur additional charges, which will be agreed in advance.
4.3. Payment can be made by bank transfer. Payment details will be provided in your booking confirmation.
5. Ceremony Content and Approval
5.1. I will work with you to create a bespoke ceremony that reflects your wishes, values, and story.
5.2. You will have the opportunity to review and approve the ceremony script before the final version is prepared.
5.3. While I will accommodate your requests wherever possible, I reserve the right to decline content that I consider inappropriate, offensive, discriminatory, or potentially harmful.
5.4. The final ceremony script remains my intellectual property, though you are free to keep and cherish your presentation copy.
6. Client Responsibilities
6.1. You are responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions or licenses for your chosen ceremony venue.
6.2. You must provide accurate information about the ceremony location, timings, and any access requirements.
6.3. For legal marriages or civil partnerships, you must arrange the legal ceremony separately with a registrar.
7. Professional Conduct
7.1. I will conduct myself professionally at all times and deliver your ceremony with warmth, respect, and care.
7.2. I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect by you, your guests, and any suppliers present.
7.3. I reserve the right to withdraw from a booking if I experience harassment, threatening behaviour, or any conduct I deem unacceptable. In such circumstances, no refund will be given.
8. Photography and Marketing
8.1. With your permission, I may request photographs of your ceremony for use on my website, social media, and marketing materials.
8.2. You are free to refuse permission or specify restrictions on how images are used.
8.3. I will always credit photographers where appropriate and respect your privacy wishes.
9. Liability
9.1. I carry full public liability insurance.
9.2. I am not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from circumstances beyond my reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, venue issues, or actions by third parties.
9.3. My liability is limited to the total fee paid for my services.

10. Data Protection
10.1. I am committed to protecting your privacy and personal data in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
10.2. Please refer to my Privacy Policy for full details on how I collect, use, and protect your information.
11. Complaints
11.1. If you have any concerns about my services, please contact me as soon as possible so I can address them.
11.2. I am committed to resolving any issues fairly and professionally.

12. General Terms
12.1. These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between us and supersede any previous agreements or understandings.
12.2. I reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Any changes will not affect bookings already confirmed.
12.3. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
12.4. If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
