What exactly is a naming ceremony?

Unlike religious ceremonies, a naming ceremony focuses on your child’s relationship with their community rather than a particular faith or institution. It's a chance to bring together your loved ones and formally welcome your child into the fold.
You might choose to announce your child’s name, share the story behind it, and invite chosen friends or family members to declare their commitment to supporting your child as they grow. Whether your ceremony includes spiritual or cultural traditions, heartfelt readings, music or symbolic rituals, it can be shaped entirely around what feels right for your family.

Before your ceremony
​
We’ll start with a relaxed chat so I can get to know you and your story. From there, I’ll draft a bespoke ceremony script tailored just for you and your child. You’ll receive guidance on the ceremony structure, suggestions for readings, and ideas for involving loved ones in meaningful ways. We’ll then meet again to finalise the script and have a run-through, so everything feels just right.
On the day
​
You’ll be in a safe pair of hands with a calm, collected celebrant who genuinely loves children, and all the beautiful chaos they bring!
I’ll deliver your ceremony with heart, warmth and presence. If needed, I’ll liaise with your venue and help ensure everything runs smoothly. I’ll also be there to gently support any loved ones taking part, helping them feel confident and comfortable on the day.
